April 27, 2014 Outflow
Well, it was the longest winter of my life where Northern IL broke and tied a lot of records; but, things have since changed and spring is here. Severe weather season has kicked off and the allergies have kicked in. Today was an interesting day (high risk in Arkansas) with a tornado hitting northern Little Rock, AR. Up this way, we had some showers from which I noticed there was some interesting elevated outflow and associated undulatus asperatus. I decided to head out and see what I could get. When I reached a clearing I realized that the location I finished my storm/sky shots last season was the exact same place I was standing and as a result the location I started my storm/sky shots this season. Interesting. Enjoy.

10/27/13 DeKalb Co. Fall Colors
I have been a bit busy lately fighting through my dissertation ideas and
decided to take a few hours off to go check out the fall colors with my
good friend Grant. We had an early season cold spell this past week
where we saw temperatures well below freezing for a few nights in a
row. However, the last two days we have seen temperatures rebound. So,
Grant and I decided to take advantage of this weather and get out for
some fall photos. The colors could have been a bit more prominent but
it was still nice. Enjoy.

9/1/13 DeKalb, IL cells
There hasn't been much to photograph around these parts as of late. Today was a bit of a surprise as a few cells fired up in the late evening. One of the cells went on to produce a tornado just south of the county line here in DeKalb. I was unfortunately unable to see it or chase it as the KLOT radar has been down for a few days and it was one of those situations where you just had to be there as it snuck up on you. Nevertheless, it was a nice night out and I decided to head just south of town to catch a few cells as waning sun hit them. Had to use an older lens for this shoot and some of the photos turned out a bit grainy.... oh well. Enjoy.
