It has been really hot the last few days here in Northern Illinois. We have had heat indices above 100 for the past three days and the humidity has been higher than normal. Being from Southern Indiana I thought I could escape the humid summers by moving north! However, this evening promises of a cold front moving SE from Wisconsin provided hope for some heat relief. But, for me I was just as excited for the thunderstorm potential associated with the cold front as well. I didn't think it would be anything too crazy just maybe some nice convection and some interesting shots. A storm is a storm!!!!
I decided to head out south of town to grab some photos if at all possible. As I drove south I pretty quickly began to remember it was late July and the corn was going to be way too high to see over. Getting a shot of the storm bases was going to be virtually impossible as the corn is well over 7 feet tall. So, I began to hunt for tall grass and/or soy bean fields. I took whatever I could get with the waning daylight. The photos I was able to grab turned out really nice. The color was great as the sun was setting behind the clouds. There were a lot of blues, oranges, and pinks. Enjoy.
